What are the responsibilities and job description for the Junior Trader position at Weiss Asset Management?
Weiss Asset Management (WAM), a Boston-based investment firm, is seeking junior traders for a variety of investment strategies and asset classes. Strong candidates will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, with a focus on recognizing patterns and synthesizing information quickly to make decisions. A successful trader will be able to think about problems both systematically and quantitatively and will have the ability to employ analytical rigor when faced with uncertainty. This person can expect to gain exposure to multiple markets and asset classes, to quickly assimilate into daily trading on an active desk, and to have the opportunity to grow as an investment professional in the long-term. Familiarity with SQL, Excel, and/or Python is preferred but not required. 2023 graduates, including those without previous finance experience are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities:
- Execute trades, generate and assess ideas for how to make better trading decisions, and collaborate with the investment team to constantly improve our processes
- Maintain strong relationships with a broad set of liquidity providers
- Drive initiatives to ensure a best-in-class trading and monitoring systems and processes
- Participate in research projects to improve investment decisions
