Accountant

Weitsman Recycling LLC, a division of Weitsman Family of Companies, the East Coast's largest privately held scrap metal processor, is currently looking for an Accountant at our Owego, NY location.

This position is responsible for the accounting responsibilities associated with numerous financial investments in a diverse investment setting. This includes maintaining the accountings systems, ensuring the proper accounting, and recording of the investment performance, and all associated financial statements, analysis, and other key management reports. Our finance group works as a team and creativity and independence is required.  Recent College Graduates are encouraged to apply. 

Areas of Emphasis:

• General Accounting.
• Tracking investments in the cryptocurrency market and reporting on the investment performance
• Tacking real estate investments and management of associated real estate investment costs, and reporting to ownership of these values and costs.
• Tracking start-up company performance and monitoring and predicting possible future performance as know based upon current discussions with start-up ownership and an understanding of the launch planning.
• Tracking restaurant performance for any and all restaurant investments both partial and fully owned.
• Manage other general accounting activities as required associated with all these investment activities.
• Distribution analysis and tracking metrics and associated budgets and planning.
• Cash flow analytics as it is associated with current and future investment activities.
• Capital approval, tracking, and progress monitoring and reporting.
• Organize investment tracking metrics and reporting in a real-time manner as appropriate.
• Cost analysis as appropriate
• Other duties as assigned by Management

General Duties/Functions/Accountability/Scope:

• Compiles and analyzes financial data
• Creates weekly, monthly, quarterly, or annual reports as appropriate
• Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the job and implements improvements as approved and appropriate.
• Is expected to operate with minimal supervision on a routine basis

Qualifications/Skills:

• Requires creativity and significant analytical ability
• Requires high degree of personal accountability and fiduciary perspective
• Requires good written and verbal communication skills
• Strong computer skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel (V Lookups, pivot tables, etc.)

 Education:

• Minimum education level of bachelor’s degree in Accounting / Business
