EXPERIENCE: Previous experience with heat-treating a plus. Previous experience with metal casting processes and foundry manufacturing preferred. On the job training provided.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
Must have good vision/sight (must meet industry standards), depth perception, hearing, and hand-eye coordination, and dexterity. Reading, writing, above average math aptitude is necessary. Must be team-oriented, problem-solver, and self-motivated. Must be able to follow written work instructions. Must be able to multitask and meet production goals and deadlines. Must be team-oriented and have good communication skills. Must have great attention to detail. Must be able to lift 50lbs on a regular basis. Must be able to grip, push, and pull with 80lb strength on a regular basis. Must be able to generate 15lbs of pinch strength on occasion. Must be able to pass a pre-employment physical. Must be able to perform elevated work on an occasional basis. Some tasks require repetitive activities. Must be able to stand on concrete up to 8 hours. Must be willing to cross-train within the classification. Must be able to follow all safety rules and wear all required personal protective equipment. Must be willing to work any shift.
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Using magnesium and aluminum heat treatment process to follow customer procedures and work instruction specifications.
- Must have legible handwriting to ensure accurate reporting and documentation.
- Must have good computer skills and be familiar with Excel and Outlook programs.
- Must be able to complete and pass an annual exam.
- Must be able to read diagrams precisely.
- Must be able to read, set, and control temperature and oven gauges to ensure the proper temperature is met per the written work instruction for each specific casting per company policy and customer specifications.
- Must be able to be detailed and keep accurate documentation of heat treatment times, including being able to read and tell time for multiple ovens at one time, casting numbers, and other required information by company policy.
- Must be able to operate an electric pallet jack, scissor lift, and other equipment necessary to move castings throughout the department.
- Improve properties, tensile strength, ductility, shock resistance, hardness, relief of casting stresses and to decrease possible warpage of the casting after machining.
- Must be able to monitor and ensure each casting is run through the oven by using the proper heat treat process.
- Must be able to communicate with different levels of employees, management, and departments to ensure heat treat process is being done properly.
- Must be able to complete process by quenching, which is a cooling process using either air, water, or the Yukon quenching method.
- Must be able to pass a test once training is complete in accordance with company policy to demonstrate the ability to perform the job efficiently.
