What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Director position at Wellness MD Group?
The Medical Director holds a pivotal role in overseeing the medic al practice's compliance with relevant regulations and ensuring the quality of care provided. The following are key aspects of this role:
Clinical Oversight:
Create Standardized Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all clinical procedures performed.
Be readily accessible via phone for emergencies or clinical inquiries with clear instructions on proper communication channels.
Participate in monthly visits with the clinic staff (virtual or in-person if feasible) and maintain a log of visits.
Review and sign-off on 10% of patient charts monthly (depending on state requirements)
Approve the selection of medical equipment, medical supplies and supply vendors
Staff Management:
Oversee the onboarding of all clinical personnel
Review CV and Conduct interview as needed for any new clinical staff
Ensure competency evaluations are completed for the services they are providing.
Ensure clinical staff members have signed SOPs for each service provided
Ensure appropriate licensure and certifications for all clinical staff members.
Ensure ongoing competency and quality assessments are completed.
Annual review of clinical staff file to ensure proper licensure and certifications
Review ongoing training and education of clinical staff
Ensure proper oversight agreements are signed with PAs and NPs.
Financial Oversight:
Approve pricing of clinical services.
Approve all marketing and advertising promotions
Sign off on any coding and billing procedures and contractual relationships with third-party payers
Business Oversight:
Ensure adequate city business licensing
Ensure the renewal of businesses Fictitious Name Permit every two years.
Ensure compliance with the Notice to Consumer requirement by posting the required signage in the break room
Ensure the Medical Director's name and photo are displayed at the clinic and on the website.
Ensure adequate Professional and General Liability Coverage
- Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
- Board certification in a relevant specialty
- Proven experience in healthcare management or leadership role.
- In-depth knowledge of medical practices, standards, and regulations.
- Familiarity with utilization management principles and techniques.
- Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and patient privacy requirements.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration with staff at all levels.
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively.
