About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking a Regulatory Relations (RR) Lead Regulatory Relations Specialist in the Chief Operating Office (COO) Regulatory Relations Team. The COO Regulatory Relations team is responsible for leading end-to-end regulatory engagements for COO, including, but not limited to, regulatory examinations, supervisory meetings, information requests, and responses to regulatory findings. The Lead Regulatory Relations Specialists leads regulatory interactions pertaining to business groups or enterprise function commitments. The role is responsible for ensuring an effective and efficient regulatory engagement process and critical regulatory interactions. The Lead RR Specialist collaborates with senior management to set strategy for the regulatory engagements pertaining to the efforts managed by these businesses, and assures connectivity across regional, legal entity and/or enterprise functions in accordance with enterprise regulatory relations strategy, policy, and related procedures. The role manages relevant supporting processes, establishes appropriate communications protocols, and programs, and ensures transparency.

The role will serve as a central hub to manage consistency of approach and messaging across related regulatory engagement activities in other functions and business lines and will advise the Regulatory Relations leadership team on key activities required by these businesses insofar as they impact the COO organization.

The role will be visible, demanding, and rewarding, interacting regularly with the Operating Committee members, senior business and functional leaders, members of governance committees and the Regulatory Relations leadership team.

In this role, you will:
  • Lead complex initiatives including those that are cross functional with broad impact and act as key participant in establishing and maintaining the enterprises regulatory relations strategy, governance, communications, and procedures to manage regulatory engagements and interactions for Regulatory Relations functional area
  • Lead highly complex regulatory engagements with focus on ensuring appropriate accountability and interaction with regulators
  • Oversee and identify integration opportunities for key regulatory responses and commitments through Regulatory Relations lifecycle of engagement
  • Ensure consistent delivery on regulatory commitments and consistent execution of the Regulatory Relations policy and procedures
  • Consult with peers and stakeholders in identifying and addressing opportunities to improve on regulatory, policy and procedures in a timely manner
  • Perform oversight activities at the enterprise level to assess and ensure adherence to the Regulatory Relations policy and procedure
  • Aggregate and report on regulatory actions to key stakeholders, including executive leadership, the board of directors, and regulators
  • Analyze internal and external regulatory environment to identify themes and risks
  • Lead implementation of initiatives with moderate to high risk
  • Strategically collaborate and consult with peers, colleagues and managers to resolve issues and accomplish goals and priorities
  • Lead projects with virtual teams and mentor a peer
Required Qualifications, US:
  • 5 years of Regulatory Relations or Risk Management, includes Regulatory Relations, Compliance, Financial Crimes, Operational Risk, Audit, Legal, Credit Risk, Market Risk, IT Systems Security, Business Process Management experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience evaluating and providing timely contributions to consistent, accurate and high-quality reports to stakeholders including senior leadership, Board of Directors, and regulators
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to reporting on regulatory exams, information requests, and related activities.
  • Knowledge and understanding of the full regulatory engagement lifecycle and the role regulatory relations plays in the end-to-end process.
  • Ability to challenge, while exercising sound judgement and professionalism, in order to achieve consistency, quality and drive efficiency
  • Experience in business writing to optimize business-related documentation, such as committee and forum materials and communications tied to regulatory issue progression, that provides concise and ease of consumption for senior leaders and regulators.
  • Leverage experience leading large-scale efforts or operations
  • Applicable industry certifications and degrees (CRCM/JD/MBA/CPA)
  • Candidates with understanding of the risk management framework, control testing and internal audit experience are preferred.
