In this role, you will:
- Lead complex, broad impact initiatives including provision of high level systems consultation for the technology teams
- Work as key participant in large scale planning of computer systems and network infrastructure for Systems Operations functional area
- Review and analyze complex technical challenges, as well as escalated support issues related to core business solutions that require in depth evaluation of multiple factors, such as alternatives, enhancements, periodic systems reviews, or improvements to existing systems
- Make decisions on technical changes and enhancements
- Consult with engineering team on change design requiring solid understanding of technical process controls or standards that influence and drive new initiatives
- Collaborate and consult with technical peers, colleagues, and mid to more experienced level managers to resolve systems support issues and achieve goals
- Overall design and implementation of the SRE functions within CLT. Successful SRE team implementations will cover the following:
- Evaluating and enhancing the current 24x7x365 on-call activities supporting the critical CLT production services. This will include incident and outage management, root cause analysis, etc.
- Developing and implementing monitoring solutions for application performance, availability, latency and resource efficiency.
- Setting, measuring and meeting Service Level Objective (SLOs) for critical CLT services.
- Implementation and improvement (including automation) of Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD) of supported applications and configurations.
- Identifying, engineering, and implementing various types of automation to assist in performing all of the previously mentioned functions.
- Identify and reengineer poorly designed or outdated code/configurations (technical debt) within applications and services. This will decrease overall cost and complexity of support, and enable other SRE areas, such as automation and monitoring.
- Application capacity planning, infrastructure management, disaster/resiliency planning.
- Overall responsibility and accountability for Change Management processes and metrics
- Will work with Development teams to insure that the newly defined SRE functions/teams are engaged in all phases of the product development lifecycle, including:
- Design: Providing input for scalable, resilient systems. Establishing SLA/SLA for services
- Build: Confirm Metrics/instrumentation can be captured accurately. Define error budget
- Release: Automate and release product (CI/CD). Consider and support 'canary' release approaches
- This leader will make recommendations on how to fill any gaps in current support teams, as well as identifying additional resources and roles that need to be included in the go forward SRE model.
- 5 years of Systems Engineering, Technology Architecture experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
- 5 years of experience in software or DevOps engineering roles, including 5 or more years of experience building and leading technical teams.
- Fully experienced in all aspects of CI/CD
- Proficient with various programming languages such as Python/Java/Ruby/Perl/.Net/Go for building automation or integration with APIs
- Proficiency with application monitoring platforms such as AppDynamics, Splunk, Elastic Search, etc.
- A BS/BA degree or higher
- Strong emphasis on SRE as an engineering discipline with a focus on automation
- Deep understanding and experience with centralized configuration management, coordination and provisioning technologies, such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet, etc.
- Experience supporting infrastructure and services in *nix and public cloud environments (AWS, GCP, etc.)
- Experience building and supporting containerized application technologies including Docker, Kubernetes
- Ability to communicate effectively, in both written and verbal formats, with senior executive-level leaders
- Strong relationship management skills
- Strong project management experience
- Ability to drive and lead organizational change in a dynamic environment
- Ability to influence, partner, and negotiate with senior business leaders to gain commitment to accomplish business goals
- Ability to effectively partner and influence at the executive level
- Ability to work and influence successfully within a matrix environment and build effective business partnerships with all levels of team members
- Ability to operate effectively in a geographically dispersed organization
- Advanced understanding of IT industry frameworks including ITIL, IT4IT, COBIT
- Knowledge and understanding of Information Technology process management improvements
- Ability to manage efforts that require integration of multiple technology systems, operations, or processes
- Knowledge and understanding of technology production support: fast paced dynamic customer facing application which requires high availability
- Outstanding problem solving and analytical skills with ability to turn findings into strategic imperatives
- Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines, achieve goals, and work under pressure in a dynamic and complex environmen
- Experience providing application development and/or production support for Financial Services applications.
- Ability to work additional hours as needed
