Position Function: Under the supervision and/or direction of the Manager of Sterile Processing or designee, processes (from decontamination to terminal sterilization) and distributes all reusable supplies and equipment throughout the hospital.
Qualifications and Standards
Education: High school graduate or equivalent required. Formal training in sterile processing or surgical technology preferred. Annualy must complete 10 hours of continuing education.
Experience: Experience applying customer service behaviors and communication skills required. Experience within the past two (2) years in instrument processing or sterile technique required, or successful completion of a sterile processing or surgical technoligist program, or successful completion of recognized online sterile processing modules or classes within six months of hire or transfer date. Computer literacy preferred.
Certifications/Licensure: Certification by the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) is required within 18 months of hire.
