Job Purpose:
The Controller plays a key role on the WEMCO management team. This position will work directly with top management to guide financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing policies and procedures. This position will be responsible for the direct oversight and reporting of all accounting functions.
Job Responsibilities:
- Ensure accurate and timely financial transactions and tracking by the accrual method of accounting
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations and ensure that there is a redundant process backup in place for every critical operation
- Process journal entries as needed
- Produce monthly and year-end financial statements
- Generate monthly and quarterly accounting reports for the management and executive teams
- Conduct the monthly and year-end close for each fiscal period/year
- Review and complete payments by wire, EFT and check for company AP/AR transactions
- Manage invoicing functions
- Generate quarterly and annual budgets
- Maintain the chart of accounts and the general ledger
- Produce and maintain the cash flow statements
- Manage and lead all external audits as necessary
- Supervise collections
- Maintain company margin objectives
- Maintain quality control by establishing and maintaining standards
- Manage state and local tax payments
- Monitor emerging technology to determine ways to automate the accounting process without sacrificing accuracy and accountability
- Additional Ad-Hoc reporting and financial analysis, as required.
- Monthly cash management and forecast reports.
- Manage the year-end file retention process
- Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
- Previous experience as a cost accountant or controller
- Good communication skills are required.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as part of a team
