SUMMARY  A Senior Cognos Developer works closely with cross functional teams to develop frameworks and reporting that will meet the business need.  This position will work alongside the Data Management team and will have detailed knowledge of where and how data is stored within Western Reserve Group’s environments.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties maybe assigned.

  • Creating, enhancing, and maintaining Framework Manager Models and Data Modules (Relational and Dimensional) to support business requirements.
  • Possess working knowledge of relational database management systems and data warehouse concepts.
  • Coordinate with testers and release management to integrate new reports/dashboards into production.
  • Collaborate with both technical and business resources.
  • Provide updates on status and raise issues in a timely manner.
  • Consistently follow IT standards, policies, and best practices.
  • Provide technical leadership on development efforts, coach and mentor other developers.
  • Provide off hours support when needed.

 A bachelor’s degree in computer science or management information systems from an accredited four-year college or university or comparable experience.

  • Five plus years of experience with developing reporting solutions in Cognos.
  • Certifications in Cognos administration reporting or modeling.
  • Experience with developing solutions in Cognos 11.0 or higher.
  • Senior level knowledge of software development methodologies, processes, and project governance; experience with the Agile development methodology preferred. 
  • Experience with multiple database platforms.
  • Ability to take direction in a matrix-managed environment while balancing multiple tasks and projects. 
  • Experience within the Property & Casualty industry is preferred. 
  • Experience working in a collaborative environment that expects requirements to change based on customer feedback; ability to accept change in a professional manner. 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.  The individual must be able to effectively and clearly communicate with agency, departmental, and company personnel via telephone, e-mail, and one on one dialogue in a highly professional manner.
