ROLE

We need a full-time FOIA Manger. You will lead a 4-person team that is helping the Department of Transportation (DOT) Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) review and process incoming FOIA requests.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage a 3-person team of FOIA Analysts
  • Plan, prepare, coordinate, implement, and manage project plans, work plans, and schedules
  • Manage cost, schedule, and scope
  • Assign, monitor, and manage workload
  • Ensure direct reports complete quality work on or before deadline
  • Mentor and coach direct reports
  • Monitor, manage, and improve work quality and work products
  • Manage customer expectations 
  • Anticipate and mitigate risks and issues
  • Advise and assist on FOIA/PA
  • Help improve FOIA program operations
  • Perform all aspects of FOIA/PA operations, e.g., research, analysis, writing, exemptions, responses, etc.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders at levels of seniority
  • Provide excellent customer service

 

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Knowledge of Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) and Privacy Act (PA)
  • Knowledge of FOIA exemptions, response process, etc.
  • Familiarity with one or more FOIA software systems
  • Preference for some experience with Motor Carrier Management Information System (MCMIS)
  • Preference for some experience with EDMS Electronic Document Management System (EDMS)

 

BACKGROUND

  • Progressive and relevant experience 

 

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience can substitute for education

 

LOCATION

  • Bachelor’s degree

Other Considerations: This position is W-2 only; no Corp-to-Corp or 1099 candidates. Relocation will not be offered. Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation. Individual’s primary workstation is located in an office area. The noise level in this environment is low to moderate. Regularly required to sit for extended periods up to 80% of the time; frequently required to move about to access file cabinets and use office equipment such as PC, copier, fax, telephone, cell phone, etc. Occasionally required to reach overhead, bend, and lift objects of up to 10 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include the use of computer monitor screens up to 80% of the time.
