Who We’re Looking For:

Skillz is looking for a passionate and talented Legal Ops Analyst to join our Legal team! Working in tandem with counsel and business partners, you will be the foundation of the team. Everything you do impacts how effective our team is at achieving our goals. Your day to day will include project managing legal requests, budgets, and streamlining processes for the Legal team. You are a self-starter, love teamwork, and thrive in ambiguity. You’re diligent when it comes to reviewing legal documents and invoices in the first instance, assisting with various corporate and compliance initiatives where needed, and building processes to help us operate more efficiently. You are data-driven and can lead the establishment and tracking of legal department metrics. Our Legal team is growing and the ideal candidate is organized, professional, and committed to building the future of esports!

What You Will Do:

  • Manage all parts of the legal billing process, including matter management, budget assignment, approval workflows, and payment confirmation
  • Work with the FP&A team to develop quarterly and annual budgets for the Legal team
  • First line of defense on the main legal inbox to ensure all requests are attended to, handled, and project managed
  • Assume lead on file management through contract management software
  • Team lead on goal creation and management for the Legal team, including OKR drafting on a quarterly basis, managing team check-ins, and working with BizOps to draft slides and talking points for quarterly business reviews with leadership
  • Team lead on establishment and tracking of legal department metrics and KPIs
  • Preparing plan and materials for outside counsel partnership review, including metrics to measure performance, spend against budget, criteria for assessment, and areas of opportunity to improve partnership
  • Develop, own, and optimize legal processes by utilizing project management tools, contract management software and more; you’re a creative problem solver
  • Partner with other departments to support the needs of the Legal team


Your Skillz:

  • At least 3 years of experience in legal operations or as a paralegal, including experience with budget management
  • Previous legal support experience, preferably in-house environments
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including keen attention to detail
  • The ability to synthesize and organize complex requests with ease and to multi-task in highly demanding, deadline driven environments
  • Experience with corporate matters, litigation, or intellectual property is preferred
  • Exceptional judgment and logical reasoning
  • Professionalism and a positive attitude
  • Comfortable liaising with outside counsel and business partners
  • Demonstrated discretion handling confidential information
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of eBilling software, GSuite, Word, Excel, DocuSign, and Adobe Acrobat
