Overview: The Site Manger and program staff co-create a welcoming environment where young scholars feel safe to be themselves, are engaged in activities that build skills and gain a sense of achievement, while developing positive relationships.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Site Manager will possess the competencies, skills, and proven leadership ability to successfully carry out the YMCA mission, program goals and vision for serving our communities. The successful candidate in collaboration with the YMCA program director, school district administration, program site staff, and third-party partners, will ensure the program delivers the necessary academic supports, cognitive, physical, and social emotional learning, while integrating proven youth development best practices. In addition, program design will be data informed and drive program quality improvement efforts, and a youth experience that intentionally fosters key drivers of impact for youth development.

The Site Manger will ensure program staff are co-creators of a welcoming environment where young scholars feel safe to be themselves, are engaged in activities that build skills and gain a sense of achievement, while developing positive relationships. The site manager is responsible for overseeing a strong program team that works well together, overseeing the implementation of the program components, building continual opportunity for youth leadership and character development. To ensure a high-quality implementation of the program, the site manager is expected to participate in ongoing professional development and provide opportunity for program staff to participate in professional development opportunities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Build community through quality member engagement, partnership with school districts, and engaging families and caregivers in program activities.

2. Manage quality implementation of the day-to-day operations of the afterschool program.

3. Ensuring resources, materials, and guidance for program staff for set up and implementation of program schedule and lesson plans, to include all program components and dosages.

4. Participate in screening and hiring of new staff and will ensure appropriate training and supervision of afterschool program staff.

5. Ensure adequate staffing by preparing and disseminating staff schedules and modifying when necessary to maintain appropriate staff-to-child ratios.

6. Coach and guide program staff to use youth development best practices, to inspire creativity, problem solving and teamwork among scholars.

7. Support Program staff through providing appropriate equipment, materials, and resources, and provide opportunities for open exchange of ideas, co-creating special events, and activities for scholars and families.

8. Collaborate with school district partners to align enrichment activities and learning experiences to support school day learning.

9. Ensure quality delivery of program dosages to support the growth and development of the whole child, to improve academic performance, build character development and social emotional learning competencies and increase physical activity and healthy living practices.

10. Complete an implementation plan and S.A.F.E. framework-based activities in cooperation with the school to address each of the program components according to prescribed dosage.

11. Ensures continuous program quality improvement through assessments, evaluations, planning, tracking and collecting data to strengthen the program.

12. Ensure all staff model and apply adult best practices within youth programs. Including but not limited to Character Development adult practices, and YPQA youth work methods.

13. Along with the department director, plans, attends, and implements professional development opportunities, staff meetings, and other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS AND REQUISITES

1. The West Cook YMCA is a mandated Covid-19 vaccine workplace.

2. Must be at least 21 years of age.

3. Must have at least a bachelor’s degree related to youth development or education.

4. Preferred a minimum of four years of relevant experience working with children ages of 5 to 13 in an educational setting including at least two years in an administrative supervisory capacity with demonstrated decision making ability.

5. Experienced in program design, lesson planning and experienced in implementing program activities.

6. Must be capable of directing the daily administrative, program related, and supervisory responsibilities of the Afterschool Program.

7. Positive role model with strong leadership skills, exceptional group management, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills with experience in managing staff.

8. Experience in creating interactive and educational/artistic activities, youth development, academic enrichment, and arts.

9. Experienced in delivering evidenced based youth programming or implementing programs informed by known best practices.

10. Ability to build effective working relationships with parents, administrators, staff, and scholars.

11. Excellent organizational and communication skills appropriate for interacting with both children and adults.

12. Flexibility, with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.

WORKING CONDITIONS

1. Ability to walk, stand, and sit (including on the floor) for long periods of time

2. Exposure to communicable diseases and bodily fluids

3. Ability to stand or sit while maintaining alertness for several hours at a time

4. Position may require bending, leaning, kneeling, and walking

5. Must be able to lift and carry supplies weighing up to 50 lbs.

6. Ability to speak concisely and effectively communicate

7. Visual and auditory ability to respond to critical situations and physical ability to act swiftly in an emergency

· Full time for 30 hours or more per week at $25 per hour
