What are the responsibilities and job description for the Success Coach/College Counselor position at West Kentucky Community and Technical College?
Full time, contract position. Provides resources and other avaliable assistance to students.
- Assist assigned students in connecting with campus and community resources to provide support success
- Work closely with students to progress in their academic and career plans
- Manage an appropriate case load of students
- Monitor student grades and attendance to assess progress
- Collaborate with tutoring and supplemental instruction services as needed
- Serve as a resource for student supplemental instruction leaders
- Consult with faculty to align efforts and assess progress in all courses in which students are enrolled
- Help students and faculty problem-solve issues that arise related to progress towards academic goals, such as attendance and persistence
- Interpret and apply results of predictive analytics and/or non-cognitive assessments of identified students
- Provide engaging and informative coaching sessions in varied formats, such as phone calls, emails, texting and other digital platforms, in addition to face-to-face interactions
- Coordinate student referrals to appropriate services to overcome barriers to success
- Work as a team member with the Student Success Center Director, other success coaches, tutors, and supplemental instruction leaders
- Actively participate in professional development opportunities and professional organizations
- Perform other assignments as needed

The Success Coach assists current students using a case-management approach that provides proactive student outreach and assistance with implementing effective strategies to increase student retention, success and completion. Special emphasis is placed on identifying and assisting students at risk of not continuing to degree completion and building continued meaningful relationships with them to help them meet their goals. The Success Coach will refer students to appropriate internal and external resources that foster student success and is expected to be an advocate for the student, demonstrating a positive attitude while being adaptable and approachable. Work day hours may vary to include some evening hours.
