Job Summary:

In this role, the Laboratory Assistant will be responsible for maintaining laboratory glassware. This person will also assist in other areas of laboratory services such as Sample Administration.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Clean, maintain and store laboratory glassware
• Maintain work instructions for glassware handling/washing
• Clean and organize glassware storage areas
• Manage sample storage by discarding, moving or storing samples as appropriate.
• Electronically maintain sample storage locations
• May assist with unpacking and organizing incoming sample shipments
• Apply required cGMP regulations and internal requirements
• Assist with shipping of samples to external sites.
• Adhere to established laboratory safety procedures.
• Collaborate with lab personnel as appropriate
• Other duties assigned

Basic Qualifications:

• High School diploma or equivalent experience
• Experience: Entry – 2 years in a 40 hour/week job
• Needs to be organized
• Attention to detail
• Needs to be reliable with attendance and work performance.
• Comfortable working with a computer

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Has worked in a cGMP environment
• Has worked with a LIMS system, LabVantage preferred
• Able to be aware of all relevant SOPs as per Company policy as they are related to the position covered by this Job Description
• Familiar with shipping requirements/regulations, preferred.

• No travel required

Physical & Mental Requirements:

• Physical: Light – exerting up to 20lbs/9kg of force frequently, and/or negligible amount of force frequently constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg control requires exertion of force greater than that of sedentary work and if the worker sits most of the time, the job is considered light work
• Must be able to stand for long periods of time (8 hour work day)
• Use hands to unload boxes, lift, wash glassware, load and unload washer
• Must be able to lift 10 to 20 lbs to move samples and glassware
• Must be able to see dirt
• Must be able to work around chemicals and drugs
• Must be able to write with their hands and type on a computer
• Mental:
  • Ability to learn, understand and remember normal tasks
  • Must be able to understand direction and adheare to established procedures
  • Must be able to change routine with proper notification
  • Ability to see and read letters and numbers
  • Must maintain the ability to work well with other in a variety of situation
