Position Summary:
Person in this position will provide counseling services for the school community in trauma-informed environment. Essential Job Functions include those listed below. Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Essential Job Functions:
- Providing counseling to students who have disciplinary problems
- Providing counseling to students with excessive absenteeism
- Provide short-term individual and small group counseling services to students
- Consult with teachers to schedule and present lessons to classrooms based on developmental needs and needs identified through data
- Consulting with teachers about building classroom relationships, effective classroom management, and the role of non-cognitive factors in student success
- Advocating for students at IEP meetings, 504 meetings, and student intervention team meetings
- Analyze schoolwide and school counseling program data
Essential Qualifications:
Certifications/Licenses:
- Current Counselor certification with appropriate endorsements as set by the Arizona Department of Education.
- Current CPR & First Aid certificate completed or able to obtain
- Possess or able to obtain Arizona Level 1 Fingerprint clearance card
- Able to pass Arizona Central Registry background check
- As mandated by Presidential Order all employees of WestCare Foundation, Inc. and all affiliates of WestCare Foundation, Inc. will be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 effective 11/1/2021. Employees that have requested a Medical or Religious Exemption, which has been approved by Human Resources will be required to test for the virus weekly.
- During your tenure with WestCare there may be new requirements, including, but not limited to vaccinations that are issued by local, State, Federal, and/or Funders that WestCare may have to comply with. Should this occur Human Resources or appropriate personnel will inform you
Education:
- Masters Degree: Official transcripts documenting a masters or more advanced degree from an accredited institution.
Experience and Competencies:
- Positive recommendations from past employers and/or training institutions.
- Must be able to provide or obtain Level 1 fingerprint clearance card
- Must be able to meet training and agency compliance requirements for the position.
- An individual may qualify for this position if the individual is able to perform safely the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations
- Must be willing and able to travel
Working Conditions:
- Work is primarily performed in an office or residential treatment setting; and
- Some outdoor activities may be required.
