Job Description
About the Team
Western Digital’s Flash business is looking for ways to extract insight from our data. The Business Analytics team was established to build, scale and maintain new reporting, analytics, and tools capabilities to enable effective data-driven decision making. Central to this effort is improving our internal customer experience engaging with our data. From data visualizations and dashboards to home-grown applications, our team seeks to marry analytics with elegant and compelling design.
About You
You’re ready to take ownership of defining design and user experience of our reporting, dashboarding, and application portfolio. You’ve got excellent analytical skills and confidence tackling nebulous cross-functional business challenges. You’re an outstanding communicator and collaborator at all levels of the organization, and have a knack for clearly articulating complex problems and steps necessary for big-picture success. You take feedback or creative direction objectively and with maturity.
Work You’ll Do:
- Establish design guidelines for dashboards, visualizations, internal web presence, etc. for the business analytics organization
- Serve as a UI/UX subject matter expert to other business analysts, and support them in elevating their work product to align with these defined guidelines
- Review end-to-end user experience in various tools or applications, identifying problem areas and implementing improvements
- Partner with marketing, engineering, sales, finance, and others to answer business questions using data.
- Project manage each engagement by gathering requirements, establishing a schedule with data engineering, performing the analysis and building elegant visualizations to communicate results to executive stakeholders
- Design advanced data visualizations and/or BI Dashboards to support the needs of internal and external stakeholders
- Examples of common projects include measuring portfolio return on investment, market and competitive analytics, supply optimization, and more.
Qualifications
What You’ll Bring to the Table:
- 5 years of experience in business analytics, data science, or other analytics-related roles. Related experience in design, UI/UX, or related fields. Online portfolio a plus.
- Demonstrated track record of solving business problems with data, bonus points for advanced statistical analytics
- Proficient in Tableau, including advanced analytics, level of detail calculations, etc.
- Experience with other analytics tools (Python, R, etc.) preferred
- Continued education and research into UI trends and current design strategy and technology
- Intellectual curiosity to learn about our business, technology, and our customers
