Job Description

Job Summary:

Do you have a passion working on leading edge technology? Are you passionate about working closely with next generation  SSDs? Are you a fast learner and enjoy synthesizing knowledge in to practice? Western Digital is a leader in the design of world class SSD products. We are looking for a strong Software lead to work on next generation SSD pre-silicon Development Platforms. The candidate must be a highly motivated self-starter who will thrive in this dynamic, cutting-edge environment.  A fundamental part of our strategy is having desirable and powerful Development Platform that enable Engineering teams to deliver products at fast pace. Creating these platforms involves a close partnership between ASIC team, Firmware engineers, ASIC designers, and Program team. We are currently building the next generation Platform and we need you!

Responsibilities:

You will be working with a technical team focusing on all facets of Emulation Systems, from Planning through sustenance of Platforms for different SSD projects running across the globe. You will work with architects, system engineers, ASIC engineers and FW teams to write specifications, understand FW development milestones,  and develop and support Emulation releases to meet those milestones.

Qualifications

Job requirements: 

• Able to understand SoC controller architecture and design
• Develop and deliver emulation models for specific non-synthesizable SoC blocks on industry-standard emulation and prototyping platforms
• Execute predefined test plan for each release of Emulation Platform throughout the development cycle of SoC
• Bring-up and debug standard interfaces and peripherals on the Emulation Platform
• Provide debug support to the FW team using these Emulation Platform releases for product FW development
• Drive continuous improvement using the latest emulation technology, and partner with vendors to debug issues and understand platform capabilities.
• Strong analytical skills, a creative mindset and passion for this type of work is required.

Qualification:

BS degree in Computer Engineering or related technical degree is required

Experience:

Required:

• Minimum of 4 years experience in Emulation or ASIC design or Verification.

Desired:

• Experience with C programming and Python or Perl scripting language
• Experience using ICE debuggers
• Experience with bring-up and debug

Compensation & Benefits Details

• An employee’s pay position within the salary range may be based on several factors including but not limited to (1) relevant education; qualifications; certifications; and experience; (2) skills, ability, knowledge of the job; (3) performance, contribution and results; (4) geographic location; (5) shift; (6) internal and external equity; and (7) business and organizational needs.
• The salary range is what we believe to be the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting.  We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in Colorado or remote jobs that can be performed in Colorado.  This range may be modified in the future.
• You will also be eligible to participate in Western Digital's Short-Term Incentive (STI) Plan and to receive equity awards under our annual Long-Term Incentive (LTI) program, which consists of restricted stock units (RSUs), pursuant to the terms of these programs.  RSU awards are also available to eligible new hires, subject to Western Digital’s Standard Terms and Conditions for Restricted Stock Unit Awards.
