Job Description

The Technology, Software and Services organization is looking for a highly technical developer to contribute to its Cloud Services development across consumer products. 

You will be a part of the Consumer Solutions business unit that is responsible for consumer products sold worldwide under the brands WD and Sandisk and serve over 350 million customers each year.

Inside the business unit, our organization has a charter to help transform the business through new software experiences, build a consolidated ecosystem of products where content can move freely between devices and cloud services with the goal to increase our active users and generate recurring revenue over time.    

In this role, you will work within a geographically distributed team of engineers responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting the cloud services that power our customer products. 

The ideal candidate for this role has extensive experience implementing highly scalable, reliable, and cost-effective services to meet product and requirements. 

You will develop and implement best practices that continuously raise the bar to achieve quality, security, performance and reliability that are core features of our products and services.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participate in design and implementation of new features as well as timely bug fixes.
  • Maintain healthy system architecture and help the team shrink its technical debt.
  • Build distributed, scalable and secure microservices running in AWS with high-quality code and high standards.
  • Participate in code reviews, building unit test, integration tests and functional tests.
  • Contribute to the tools and processes that improve efficiency and quality of development.
  • Be aware of cutting-edge technologies and tools in the cloud development realm.
  • Be highly adaptable to an environment that has a fast-paced change in requirements and processes.

Qualifications

  • 7 years of software development, ideally in Java with focus on cloud services.
  • 5 years of work experience with Spring Boot
  • 3 years of  work experience with AWS
  • Critical thinking skills and the ability to develop highly scalable solutions.
  • Strong Object-Oriented Programming concepts, data structure, algorithms, and system level programming (including multi-threaded programming)
  • Architectural knowledge of designing and developing software in distributed architecture for multi-tier applications
  • Up-to-date overview of modern software development tools and techniques
  • Hands-on experience building CI/CD 
  • Bachelor's/Master's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science required.
