Overview
This position is responsible for performing key accounting functions and providing financial guidance and support to Perfection Pet Foods, under the direction of the Plant Controller.
Responsibilities
- Extract data in the most efficient manner possible to compile reports showing real-time information in a relevant and user-friendly format.
- Verify, allocate and post details of business transactions to accounts and sub-accounts.
- Reconcile and balance accounts. Research and correct errors.
- Drive month-end closing process.
- Act as a liaison between accounting and other departments to ensure vendor invoices are processed accurately and timely.
- Assist with annual budgeting process.
- Identify and implement process improvements within the Finance/Accounting functions to drive efficiency and allow more time for value-added activities.
- Establish and maintain procedures and controls to ensure proper use of company assets and liabilities and tracking.
- Prepare reports and information for external auditors and management as requested.
- Prepare and own the trial balance.
- Train members of accounting staff.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- Minimum of three (3) years of recent public or private accounting experience required; professional auditing experience desired.
- Thorough understanding of GAAP required.
