JOB SUMMARY
The Forklift Operator Position will utilize the forklift to facilitate movement of product and materials in an organized and safe manner throughout the facility to maximize space and productivity.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Comply with Company Safety Policies and Procedures
- Wears assigned PPE in order to safely perform all job tasks.
- Wears steel-toed boot for the duration of work shift
- Maintains a professional and positive attitude
- Reports all injuries to respective supervisor(s)
- Performs general housekeeping duties to help maintain a clean and safe work area
- Attends company sponsored training when necessary
- Reports to work daily and on time unless otherwise excused
- Abides by all safety and/or quality policies and procedures.
- Performs daily inspection on assigned forklift and notify appropriate personnel of all safety and maintenance issues prior to driving forklift
- Transfers material throughout facility and store new product in designated area
- Safely secures and loads flatbed and flatbed trucks as needed (where applicable)
- Follows company safety procedures pertaining to forklift safety.
- Follows all forklift safety procedures when replacing empty propane tanks on forklifts
- Wraps finished product for shipping (where applicable)
- Retrieves pallets (as applicable)
- Performs other duties as assigned or needed.
- Regular attendance, timeliness, and scheduling flexibility
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Attention to detail and accuracy
- Must be able to read and write in English and/or Spanish
- Ability to receive and carry out instructions given by management
- Ability to model desired behavior and conduct for all employees
- Must be safe minded and alert during times of operation
- Demonstrated traits of honesty and integrity and ability to maintain confidential information
- Must be able to perform simple mathematic functions
- Must possess the ability to obtain forklift certification and have thorough knowledge of operating policies and procedures
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
The employee should have the following:
- High School Diploma or equivalent and training or certification in relevant skill or trade
- 1 - 2 years' experience in a relevant field
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
The employee should possess the ability to:
- Prolong standing or in stationary position
- Complete repetitive movements such as typing
- Be exposed to sounds or noise levels that maybe uncomfortable
- Complete repetitive movements
- Wear all required personal protective equipment (hearing, vision and hardhat protection)
- Lift/move/transport items up to 50 pounds
- Ability to move or traverse about the facilities
- Must be able to ascend/descend stairs or ladders
- Ability to work around dust, chemicals, and other substances, and in various environmental conditions
