What are the responsibilities and job description for the College and Career Teacher position at Westport Community Schools?
Under the direction of the Westport High School administration, the School and Career Teacher is responsible for classroom instruction associated with career readiness and workforce development, as well as the coordination of the schools student internship and externship program.ResponsibilitiesResponsibilities include, but are not limited to: 1. Developing a course curriculum, syllabus and related curricular materials based on the DESE Office for College, Career, and Technical Education guidance and materials.2. Collaborating with Guidance and other teachers to identify instructional opportunities when common college and career readiness objectives are identified.3. Monitoring and assessing student performance and grading students accordingly via progress reports and report cards.4.
Providing regular instruction to students.5. Building relationships with current and potential student employers to increase opportunities.6. Conducting site visits to monitor students work site performance based on the Massachusetts Work-Based Learning Plan.7. Compiling all applicable permissions and paperwork relative to the internship/externship program.8.
Maintaining and expanding partnerships with MassHire Youth Connection, the Bristol County Regional Employment Board and other relevant agencies or associations.9. Participating in DESE-sponsored opportunities, including Connecting Activities seminars.10. Communicating with parents, families and community stakeholders regarding the internship/externship programs mission and expectations.11. Such other responsibilities as may from time to time be assigned by the Principal.
