International Logistics Planner – Atlanta, GA
The opportunity:
This position is responsible for daily export logistics transactions for WestRock’s mill business. The International Logistics department is responsible for approximately 35,000 FEUs of ocean container freight and over 200k metric tons of breakbulk ocean freight annually. This position will work with external suppliers (freight forwarders, ocean carriers, warehouses, and drayage providers), internal business stakeholders, and external customers to ensure that services and product shipments meet WestRock business requirements. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with functional work instructions and effectively troubleshoot logistical issues. The role will support other areas of the logistics organization, such as providing supplier feedback to the Sourcing teams, supporting process improvement efforts, business unit planning, etc.
How you will impact WestRock:
- Process daily export transactions in WestRock systems in accordance with documented work instructions; running reports, meeting KPIs, and troubleshooting any issues for the assigned locations.
- Responsible for weekly service metrics, including cost, equipment availability, quality, and dwell time, container utilization, shipment on-time metrics, etc.
- Manage container pools at selected locations.
- Work with freight forwarders to ensure booking and documentation is completed on-time.
- Communicate timely with internal/external customers and suppliers.
- File export declarations for compliance with US government regulations.
- Audit and approval of freight invoices for payment and/or dispute resolution.
- Other Residual duties as assigned by the manager/supervisor.
What you need to succeed:
- Bachelor’s degree required; 1-2 years of logistics experience preferred.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Must be detail and quality oriented.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to execute tasks in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities.
- Self-sufficient, able to research answers and adapt to changing conditions.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint
- Export Compliance familiarity (EAR, ITAR, Documentation) a plus
- Occasional travel (<5%) may be required
