What are the responsibilities and job description for the Job Coach position at WestRock?

Opportunity Summary: The Job Coach position works closely with Facility and Operations leadership, facilitates the disability inclusion program at the site, overseeing growth of the program in four areas: Outreach, Education, Recruitment/on-boarding, and Skill acquisition/workplace acculturation.

How you will contribute to Victory Packaging, a WestRock Company:
  • Maintain relationships with local public and private agencies providing vocational development for adults with disabilities; explain available employment opportunities
  • Coordinate off site support, sponsorships, and/or volunteers, for agency partners
  • Participate in networking opportunities with other disability friendly employers
  • Foster understanding among teammates through training and awareness education and events
  • Deliver training programs for floor supervisors working with program participants
  • Accept referrals from partnering agencies; provide tours and soft interviews for program candidates, and if fit is mutually evident, refer to personnel for completion of the employment application
  • Facilitate Community Based Work Assessments that measure a potential participant’s readiness for work
  • Coordinate the start date and coaching support for newly hired teammates in the program; develop a fade from support plan in coordination with agency job support
  • Work closely with Operations supervision team in scheduling and assignment of program participants
  • Working on a model of shared support, facilitate job coaching and provide direct coaching and instruction to program participants in the areas job task acquisition and interpersonal development
  • Receive performance concerns from floor supervisors and mitigate any difficulty program participants are having with task completion or problems adjusting to the workplace culture.
  • Provide regular feedback and progress reports to program participant’s case management team and coaching support
  • Facilitate teammate understanding of site, policy, and benefits changes
  • Identify individual support needs and provide appropriate solutions or facilitate reasonable accommodations
  • Expand and maintain mentorship program
  • Maintain confidentiality of employee and company information in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures
  • Complete all other duties as assigned
What you need to succeed:
  • Bachelor’s degree in vocational rehabilitation, social services, or human resources is preferred
  • Two years of successful experience in Supported Employment or Special Education
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience considered
  • Must have working knowledge of critical vocational rehabilitation and business information (ADA, FMLA, other applicable laws/regulations/benefits/policies/ procedures/related to individuals with disabilities, etc.)
  • Knowledge and understanding of cognitive and physical disabilities and ability to apply it to the workplace
  • Effective communication verbally and in writing
  • Independently make judgments and decisions
  • Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing helpful
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals a plus
