Summary
Primary responsibilities include managing payroll and benefits, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, addressing team member inquiries, supervising payroll staff, and supporting the HR Manager with daily HR management.
Essential Functions
- Oversees and responsible for complete payroll administration; includes manual checks, bonus payrolls or special payments as requested.
- Generates payroll activity sheet and internal change forms for documentation purposes; ensures appropriate approvals are obtained for all changes.
- Ensures accurate and timely submission of semi-monthly payroll file.
- Responsible for review of ADP tax submissions and resolving any outstanding payroll tax items.
- Maintains payroll guidelines by writing and updating policies and procedures
- Responsible for creating reports using ADP and Excel
- Responsible for all phases of Benefits Administration, including invoice processing.
- Coordinates open enrollment and annual wellness programs.
- Responsible for FMLA and COBRA administration
- Responsible for MLO registration and renewals and ensures compliance with SAFE Act
- Processes all termination paperwork to ensure compliance with payday laws.
- Provides assistance to team members, supervisors, and management regarding complex payroll and benefit issues.
- Contributes to and guides the improvement and optimization of relevant internal systems and procedures.
- Assists with various accounting functions and reconciliation processes; performs research as needed.
- Leads and develops HR Specialist, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
- Designated back-up for HR Specialist and all related tasks
- Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
Required Education, Experience, Skills
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive and comprehensive payroll experience preferred
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Accounting, or Business related field, or a combination of experience and education
- SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP designation or Payroll Certification a plus
- Banking, accounting and/or supervisory experience helpful
- Must have a strong knowledge and understanding of payroll tax principles and wage and hour laws.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Adobe, and Outlook
- Experience using ADP or other payroll software a plus.
- Ability to organize work, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with an affinity for process improvement
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality in personnel and other sensitive company matters.
