About the Role
WeWork is seeking an attorney with 7 years of relevant experience in real estate law with extensive experience and expertise in real estate transactions, specifically leasing. The ideal candidate will have experience in drafting and negotiating leases, ancillary lease documents and management agreements, as well as familiarity with navigating legal disputes and litigation. Candidates must have demonstrated experience working as a part of and leading cross-functional teams; exceptional organizational skills and the ability to consistently prioritize, coordinate and satisfy numerous competing demands; successfully achieve deadline driven results in support of business objectives; proven ability to be open to change and agile in a dynamic environment; strong sense of urgency; a willingness and ability to alternatively assume 'first chair' or 'second chair' legal role in the negotiation; strong interpersonal skills and a proven ability to collaborate and deal effectively with others.
Responsibilities
The attorney will provide legal advice primarily regarding WeWork's real estate portfolio, specifically leasing, lease restructuring and lease interpretation, and handling any real estate related issues in WeWork's buildings. Reporting to the Global Head of Real Estate Legal, this attorney's primary responsibilities will include:

Drafting, reviewing and negotiating real estate documents, including leases, management agreements, lease amendments, subordination and non-disturbance agreements, estoppels and letters to relevant stakeholders.

Interpreting leases and supporting the WeWork business on any asset-related questions, issues, escalations or disputes.

Performing real estate diligence for any corporate transaction, including mergers and acquisitions

Being a collaborative stakeholder and participant in helping to develop, define and improve internal processes

Providing strategic and practical advice to internal clients at all levels, including top level executives
Qualifications

J.D. or foreign equivalent.

Admitted to N.Y. bar or otherwise eligible to register as in-house counsel.

Lawyer with 5 years of experience and knowledge of a relevant legal practice area.

Ability to spot novel issues within assigned practice area and escalate them appropriately.

Serves as a willing and able "team player."

Takes ownership of own work product and is able to operate independently with minimal oversight
Compensation & Benefits
Base Pay: $187,500- $250,000 USD
Incentive Compensation: WeWork employees are eligible to participate in an incentive plan specific to their role. Your recruiter will detail what incentive plan is applicable to this specific role. WeWork incentive plans are subject to the terms of the applicable incentive compensation plan, which will be made available to you after commencing employment. WeWork reserves the right to amend its incentive plans, and nothing in this job requisition or any other document creates a right to a specific incentive plan payment.
Benefits: Full-time employees are eligible for comprehensive benefits (subject to the terms of applicable plans/policies/agreements, which will be made available to you after commencing employment), including 20 days of PTO, approximately 10 paid holidays, 80 hours of paid sick leave, 16 weeks paid parental leave, competitive healthcare benefits, 401K plan, Life & AD&D insurance.
