What are the responsibilities and job description for the Driver (Part-Time) position at Wheeling Township?

Wheeling Township's drivers provide transportation for our community's seniors & disabled residents to medical appointments, grocery stores, personal appointments, dialysis, physical therapy, etc.
* Drive 2 - 3 days/week (8:30 - 4:30) Full days only - no split shifts
* No early mornings, evenings or weekends.
* Paid training & orientation
* CDL NOT REQUIRED
Our dynamic and active transportation team provides over 20,000 rides a year for the seniors and disabled in our community. Patience, pleasant personality and outstanding compassion are the keys to success with this job. Previous professional driving experience and/or work with seniors or disabled persons is preferred.
* Flexible schedule
* Must hold valid IL Driver's License
* Must have clean driving record
* Must be able to push/pull wheelchairs with overweight individuals
* Ability to carry/lift 20 - 40 lbs
* Must have professional driving experience and/or have worked with seniors/disable previously
* Must be willing to ride the bus for several hours as part of the interviewing process
Candidates will be thoroughly screened (MVR, sex offender and criminal background check), and are required to undergo pre-employment and annual DOT physicals and drug tests. Random and regular drug/alcohol testing is mandatory.
