What are the responsibilities and job description for the Direct Care Staff position at Whitemarsh House?
Qualifications: A caring, courteous and attentive person with good interpersonal skills. Experience in human services, the willingness and ability to learn new things, participate in a team effort to assure a comfortable, safe, responsive and dignifying environment for the residents. Must have the ability to show respect and communicate effectively with others at all times.
Minimum high school diploma (or GED), Driver’s License, CPR, First Aid required.
Reports to: The Personal Care Home Administrator
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Assures that the residents rights are maintained at all times.
· Always presenting courteous and positive behavior.
· Provides and plans basic care services as required and instructed.
· Shares responsibility for Resident personal shopping and personal spending money.
· Manages medication according to policy and as instructed.
· Assures the personal hygiene of all residents is optimal.
· Assists Residents with activities of daily living skills.
· Actively participates in establishing and implementing program guidelines.
· Follows behavior protocols as instructed.
· With approval, implements or initiates leisure time activities.
· Participates in maintaining a clean environment, as assigned.
· Participates in laundry duties, as assigned.
· Participates in food management, as assigned.
· Knows how to respond politely and informatively to families and visitors.
· Is familiar with and follows appropriate reporting and communication lines as established by Board of Directors and the Personal Care Home Administrator.
· Notifies the Personal Care Administrator about the physical and emotional status of the residents. Documents all relevant information appropriately.
· Knows all emergency procedures and protocols. Assesses emergency situations and takes appropriate action to assure the safety of the residents. Notifies administrative personnel.
· Adheres to all priorities, as instructed.
· Participates in all staff meetings and training.
· Follows through on all other duties and activities by the Personal Care Home Administrator and other members of the management team.
