Job Summary Description
The Operator-Machine III Filler Operator is responsible for producing quality products while running continuous motion packaging, filling, and palletizing equipment efficiently and safely. The Filler Operator must perform cleaning and sanitation requirements to meet Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standards and safely by performing the following duties:
Roles and Responsibilities
- Inspect process and filling system for cleanliness. Record and notify management in the event of failure. Setup and install appropriate change parts.
- * Inspect and install food safety equipment including filter screens, magnets, and filler valve components.
- Demonstrate knowledge and use of all machine safety switches and guards.
- Adjust position and timing of all parts for the package being produced.
- Inspect thermal process piping to ensure proper flow of product.
- Inspect and operate bottle rinser to ensure all empty bottles are free of potential contaminates.
- Install, interpret, and monitor thermal process recording charts.
- Operate touch-screens to select appropriate recipe, temperatures, flow rates and pressures for the product being manufactured.
- Operate filling and processing support equipment including: headspace sterilizers, hot boxes, cap hoppers, and cooling tunnels.
- Perform and document quality checks including in-bottle temperatures, cap application (pull-up, torque, and cap temperature), fill weights, primary package code verification, and verify thermal process from manual gauges.
- Perform hot water flushes for shut-down and flavor changes. Verify cleanliness with in-bottle samples.
- Use appropriate methods for production start-up and shut-down to avoid product carry-over or any other potential contamination.
- Document any instance of filler down-time. Notify management of conditions that prevent the filler from running reliably at steady state.
