Certified Weld Inspector
RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
- Current or previous qualification as an AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).
- Work within AWS D1.1 and D14.1 standards.
- Proficient in visual and magnetic particle examination of welds.
- Verify company weld standards and process controls are being met (e.g. proper weld procedure, base metal, filler metal)
- Check the weld to blueprint requirement.
- Record inspection data in a database, on forms, and/or document in ERP system.
- Development of procedure qualification records (PQR) and welding procedure specifications (WPS).
- Record control of welder qualifications and continuity.
- Oversee weld testing.
- Work with suppliers on testing of weld personnel weld samples.
- Marking defective welds and to be able to explain deficiencies to weld personnel when asked.
- Write non-conformances when required.
- Responsible for making recommendations to improve the overall process and efficiency.
- Exhibit good communication skills with all levels of management.
- Computer savvy.
- Possess a working knowledge of MS Word and Excel.
- Prior experience in companies with ISO9001 / NQA-1 (Nuclear systems) is a plus.
- Must be reliable and punctual.
- Performs other duties as assigned. Participates in Continuous Improvement and 6S.
- Follows safety rules and keeps the work area in clean and orderly condition.
- Involvement in ISO and Nuclear audit process when required.
- Willingness to be trained to take on additional job responsibilities or act as backup within the QA group.
- Review and approve material test reports (MTRs).
- Weld inspection 1 year
- High school or equivalent
