SALARY: $16.50 - $16.85
FLSA DESIGNATION: Hourly/non-exempt
SCHEDULE: .56 FTE | 9-months | 30 hours per week
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Printing Services Specialist operates all printing services functions including the execution,
reproduction and distribution of copied and bound materials for faculty, staff, students and the
bookstore and managing the tracking, billing and procedural elements of printing services.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Organize and facilitate the planning, scheduling and production of materials in support of the
universitys needs.
- As key operator, set-up and operate complex equipment including:
o Color digital copier with various size, type, and weights of paper stock.
o Bindery equipment including stitcher, folder, 3-hole drills, paper cutter, padder, andhand-assembled work.
o Black/white digital copiers with various size, type and weights of paper stock.
- Provide excellent customer service through electronic, phone, and in-person contact.
Anticipate customer needs and problem solve as needed.
- Develop and produce educational material if needed to aid students and staff in effectively
printing files.
- Collaborate with Information Systems staff in developing and creating new copy job ticket
system- including information needed on forms, clarification of specific fields, suggestions for
on-going page maintenance. Trouble shooting and contact person for page issues.
- Learn and then train staff members and student workers on new copier technology with
change of equipment-including bookleting, spiral job set up, proper paperweight manipulation,
maintenance, and job costing.
- Scan documents as requested and transmit files to recipients.
- Maintain scheduling of production work in collaboration with staff and student workers to meet
deadlines.
- Integrate knowledge of printing technology with positive working relationships across
departments to facilitate and fulfill specific needs.
- Exercise quality control for universitys brand; maintaining brand integrity by reporting
violations to University Communications.
- Maintain paper and other supply inventories and communicate needs to supervisor for
fulfillment.
- Manage service repair for copy equipment when needed.
- Maintain accurate record keeping of all paperwork.
- Manage charge-back system with job pricing and data entry for interdepartmental charges
through universitys billing system, meeting monthly deadlines.
- Assume temporary supervisory responsibility for the print shop area, as requested.
- Cross-train in other mailing services areas to process outgoing mail and packages mailing-
supervisors absence and vacations.
- Prepare weekly bulk paper orders for facility services delivery. Enter charges into system
software (Colleague).
- Maintain campus copier toner storage, arrange campus delivery and reorder as needed.
- Other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Bindery equipment experience desirable.
- Computer proficiency in a Windows environment.
- Ability to recognize technical issues and assist IT staff to correct and/or update procedures.
Develops systems when necessary.
- Ability to learn and apply new technology, particularly in relation to high-speed copiers.
- Understanding of basic electronic file types and how to manipulate them-in particular PDF,
JPEG and PNG.
- Ability to problem solve and utilize appropriate printing and/or scanning technology to meet
customer needs (i.e. scan paper documents to PDF, create booklet from PDF).
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with faculty, staff
and students.
- Utilization of experience to evaluate customer files and provide guidance for optimum print job
quality.

- Ability to lift 10-20 lbs. numerous times each day and up to 35 lbs. once a day.
- Requires long periods of time standing and occasional walking.

- Ability to work as a member of a team.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School diploma or GED.
- A valid drivers license required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Two years experience with high-speed high-volume copier equipment in a production
environment.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: A background check, sexual misconduct check and confirmation of
degrees earned will be required of the successful candidate. A resume, cover letter, faith statement,
and names, addresses, and phone numbers of at least three (3) professional references will also be
