JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE: WIC Program Director

PROGRAM: WIC/RHWP

SUPERVISOR: Deputy Director

Monday through Friday; may require work in the evenings or on
WORKING HOURS:

Saturday; may involve out of town travel.

LEVEL: 13

STARTING WAGE: $

DUTIES:

1. Responsible for the overall management and supervision of the WIC Program.
Acts as back-up Director for CFHS and RHWP programs.

2. Responsible for recruitment, selection, training and supervision of program personnel.

3. Coordinates all aspects of local WIC program to conform to state and federal
WIC regulations.

4. Assist in preparing the WIC grant application for each fiscal year.

5. Submit budget revisions when necessary.

6. Accountable for all financial procedures pertaining to the WIC Program and monitoring them monthly to assure compliance.

7. Act as public relation liaison between the Agency and the staff, clients and community, responding to comments and answering questions concerning the program and the Agency.

8. Attend all state WIC Directors’ meetings and subcommittee meetings and trainings.

9. Prepare all annual and quarterly reports in compliance with the Ohio Department of Health.

10. Assure adequate staffing for the WIC Clinics in Adams and Brown counties.

11. Work collaboratively with the Reproductive Health and Wellness Program

Director and Clinic Coordinator to assure efficient and professional operation of the WIC and RHWP/CFHS Clinics.

12. Promote and apply all agency policies.

13. Reviews all reports to insure accuracy.

14. Monitors relations with the vendors who are authorized to anticipate in the WIC program in Adams and Brown counties.

15. Understands all aspects regarding the operation of the WIC Program.

16. Assure compliance with budgets, contracts and leases.

17. Prepare, purchase, establish, etc. educational materials and curriculum.

18. Maintain charts according to established protocols. Conduct chart audits monthly in each county

19. Assure client confidentiality at all times through strict adherence to HIPAA.

20. Application of OSHA safety guidelines.

21. Establish, maintain and update protocols.

22. Other various duties as assigned by Deputy Director and/or management.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Directly supervises all WIC staff and is responsible for the overall operations of the WIC Program. The WIC Director will work collaboratively with the RHWP/CFHS Director and Clinic Coordinator to assure an efficient and professional Clinic.

The director will carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include assisting with interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Associate’s Degree or Diploma in Nursing; three years’ experience in direct supervision or management in an area requiring strong leadership skills; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience with federal program; previous experience with Ohio Department of Health or other state funded medical program would be helpful.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Should have the following abilities: to read and interpret complex documents, effectively respond to complaint and sensitive inquiries, write speeches and articles, make effective speeches and presentation on complex topics to top management, public groups and/or Board of Directors. Is able to read and understand ODH policies and guidelines and communicate with the general public, clients, volunteers, etc. in carry out the WIC Program.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability, statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry, trigonometry. Should have the ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

OTHER: Each person must have a one-step Mantoux prior to employment and must follow TB policy as covered in the Personnel Policies.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must have valid Oho Registered
Nurse License. Must have reliable transportation and possesses a valid Ohio Driver’s
License, a car available for work and vehicle insurance which meets the Financial
Responsibility Law requirements. Must meet the Agency’s fleet insurance company standards (a) an Ohio MVR report containing 5 years driving experience which will be reviewed and (b) anything over four points-or-four points that pertain to reckless operations or DUI are considered unacceptable. The Ohio Revised Code Section
4509.101 requires that all operators and owners of motor vehicles driven upon roads in
Ohio must maintain proof of financial responsibility.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Must perform all daily functions in accordance with
ABCEOI policies and procedures. Dresses appropriately for the position and office environment. Maintains and respects patient, employee, and ABCEOI confidentiality and adheres to confidentiality policies of ABCEOI. Familiarity with medical terminology; ability to work with person of child bearing age and children from birth to age of 21; knowledge and ability perform generally accepted nursing activities

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be exposed to normal medical office environment with associated risks of exposure to hazardous and infectious materials. While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, risk of electrical shock, risk of radiation, and vibration.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
