Controller Position:

About the job

William A Day Jr. & Sons and affiliated businesses (logging, trucking, firewood and restaurant) are hiring a Controller to join their organization. The Controller is responsible for all financial and operational reporting and controls including cost accounting, financial reporting, financial performance and cash flow forecasting, trucking and logging data analysis, and working with outside CPAs. The position reports to the managing owner.

Job Responsibilities:

• Oversee all accounting operations including: billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, cost accounting, revenue recognition, and reconciliations and performance against budgets.
• Supervise accounting/office staff, and coordinate workflow across departments.
• Oversee payroll processing, employment audits, and related external reporting for the company
• Manage and comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings.
• Manage financial transactions (payments/collections) with customers and vendors.
• Review, improve, and further develop internal controls and financial processes as needed.
• Perform analysis of general accounting functions, monthly and annual financial statements, including variance and cost/profitability analysis on lines of business.
• Complete accurate and timely monthly financial statements and reports to the owners.
• Prepare year-end financial reports and work-papers, and coordinate with external CPA firm for annual tax preparation and filings.
• Work with owners to understand and develop financial performance metrics, provide statistics and comments to assist in the interpretation of operating results and specific recommendations to improve operating results.

Qualified candidates will have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or equivalent technical degree required
• 7 years responsible for all aspects of accounting and financial analysis and reporting to a CFO, owner or other top management
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office software; (Excel, Word and Outlook) as well as Quickbooks or other accounting software.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work.
• Strong analytical skills and tech savvy, process-oriented and organized
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently to meet job requirements.
• Ability to prioritize and close out monthly financials in a timely manner

Pay: $90,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
