William Paterson University invites applications for the full-time position of Associate Director of University Admissions Operations.


Under the direct supervision of the Associate Vice President for University Admissions, the Associate Director of University Admissions Operations is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the department.


The Associate Director will also supervise the admissions reception and customer service staff that welcome the public to campus, assist in the preparation and processing of applications, and provide counsel on the subsequent enrollment procedures.


Associate Director will also assist the Senior Associate Director of Advanced Standing Admissions with the completing advanced standing evaluation of credits, registration, and related services through enrollment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:


  • Hires, evaluates, and recommends retention/promotion of agency services representatives that are responsible for undergraduate admission service including but not limited to general inquiries, event reservation/attendance, application submission/decision, and the related enrollment procedures.
  • Trains agency services representatives on existing and newer office policies, procedures, and respective technological enhancements.
  • Manages the daily responsibilities of all agency services representatives and reassigns duties accordingly.
  • Works closely with the Slate and EMT teams to effectively use and develop the software to provide optimal customer service.
  • Tracks, analyzes, and determine effectiveness/ROI of external/internal initiatives and programming using data management tools and metrics.
  • Prepares cogent reports containing findings and recommendations as requested or required.
  • Reviews advanced standing student applications, specifically transfers, for admission as well as render transfer credit evaluations.
  • Represents the office on internal committees, such as the University-wide social media committee as well as external committees as required.
  • Assists the University Admissions team with walk-ins, phone campaigns, telephone calls, and web-based inquiries.
  • Leads information sessions and presentations to prospective students and parents during school visits, college fairs, regional fairs, panels, and onsite visits; topics include academic, social, and financial offerings, as well as admissions and scholarship process and standards.
  • Administers and interprets applicable federal and/or state laws and regulations relevant to the admissions processes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned that are appropriate for the position.
  • Remote hybrid work possible depending upon institutional need.
Qualifications:

Required qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree required in communication, management, or related field.
  • Five (5) or more years of progressively responsible experience in an Admissions department with a particular focus on operations.
  • Ability to supervise staff including developing efficiency and performance standards, recommending human resource allocation, and budgeting for internal operations and external event hosting.
  • Experience writing, creating, and coordinating content for event marketing.
  • Technical competency in a variety of computer applications, including but not limited to spreadsheets, word processing, databases, statistical software, MS windows, and other PC-based tools.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license for work-related travel.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively in an online remote environment using generally used platforms such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams.

Additional, preferred qualifications:


  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Ability to speak a second language.
