Children’s Minister
BASIC REQUIREMENTS
This individual reports to the Lead Pastor. The Children’s Minister must be a believer in Christ, the Bible, and the power of prayer. Enthusiastically support the vision and philosophy of the ministry of the church and attend worship service upon availability. The Children’s Minister will stay spiritually sensitive to the Holy Spirit through a consistent prayer life and personal Bible study or accountability group. They will lead people by right example of life in the Spirit and service of the Lord (Gal. 4:22-26). His/her faith is growing stronger as evidenced in his/her life fulfilling “the Great Commandment”, loving God and loving people. (Matthew 22:36-39)
QUALIFICATIONS
Must have 5 years experience in ministry, or in a ministerial position, or a degree in a related field.
- Has a passion for influencing and affecting children’s lives with the gospel of Christ.
- Demonstrate/support strong family values based on biblical principles.
- Spiritually mature with a high moral and ethical conduct.
- Passionate about working with children, with a good understanding of child development and skill level (age group – 1stthru 6thgrades)
- Must remain current in all aspects of Children’s Ministry. This includes showing an interest in participating in Christian education programs, conferences, and training as approved and funded by the church.
- Be a team player that is trustworthy, displays a positive attitude and will loyally support the other members of the church staff.
- Possess strong skills in the following areas:
- Leadership
- Organization
- Communication
- Upon employment, the part time children’s minister will become a member of Willow Church
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Children’s Minister will serve as the Willow Kids representative when needed.
- Lead the Children’s ministry team in Christ while keeping Willow’s vision and direction at the forefront of the ministry.
- Provide vision and oversight for all things pertaining to the Children’s Ministry at Willow Church (including but not limited to Special Events, Special Sundays or Churchwide Events)
- Will adhere to established Willow Kids policies.
- Be available to counsel and pray with children and families regarding spiritual matters.
- Supervise the following staff and ministries:
- * Sunday School and Children’s Church

- Midweek activities in the Children’s Ministry
(Currently-Break Out or Kids Quest activities)
- Coordinated summer activities (Children’s Camp, VBS, etc.)
- Ensure that the following responsibilities are executed:
- Maintain Willow Kids media.
- Willow Kids announcements and current updates in the bulletin or church newsletter
- Maintain/organize the children’s supply areas
- * All areas that are utilized by children 1st- 6thgrade

- Annual Willow Kids Fundraisers
- Special needs that arise during any church revivals/conferences
- Recruit, train and coordinate the work of volunteers for all Children’s ministries including the submittal and verification of background checks.
- Provide guidance and encouragement for Nursery Coordinator. Collaborate and coordinate together for all overlapping functions or events within the children’s areas.
- Work with Willow Youth Pastor and Nursery Coordinator to ensure vision and curriculum continuity flows from elementary into Middle & High School environments.
- Is responsible for requesting and administrating the budget items related to children’s ministry.
- Children’s Minister will coordinate the use of church facilities and supplies as they pertain to Children’s ministry.
- Responsible for own secretarial needs such as making copies, children’s ministry mailouts, etc.
- Ensure the confidentiality within staff of personal information of volunteers, children, and their families.
- Responsibility of reporting all suspected child abuse or family violence
EXPECTATION OF TIME COMMITMENT
Approximately 25 hours per week; average of 8 ministerial hours, 8-10 hours per week office time or as deemed necessary by Lead Pastor.
BENEFITS
PTO (vacation and/or sick leave):
- PTO is defined as (but not limited to) time off for vacations, sickness, personal leave, etc.
- Time off will be distributed as follows: Distribution is as follows: The equivalent of 2 (two) weeks PTO. Beginning January 1 prior to the anniversary of 6 (six) years of employment, PTO will increase to the equivalent of 3 (three) weeks. Beginning January 1 prior to the anniversary of 8 (eight) years of employment, PTO will increase to the equivalent of 4 (four) weeks. Beginning January 1 prior to the anniversary of 10 (ten) years of employment, PTO will increase to the equivalent of 5 (five) weeks. First through third year, only two Sundays may be missed. After the third year a third Sunday may be included.

SERVICE COMMITMENT
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $18,500.00 - $20,150.00 per year

- High school or equivalent (Preferred)
