Under the supervision of the Recreation General Manager, the Community Recreation Center Operations Supervisor is responsible for facility coordination, recreation programming, rentals and special events throughout the complex. This includes the supervision of part-time customer service representatives and building maintenance workers. The administrative oversight, including but not limited to the budgeting and marketing facility rentals and birthday parties, facility scheduling, facility maintenance and special events.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Hire, train and supervise Customer Service Desk staff and Summers End Camp staff.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities, include, but not limited to:
- Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and evaluate part-time Community Recreation Center staff, including, but not limited to, customer service representatives, special event and birthday party attendants.
- Responsible for securing and maintaining Community Recreation Center rental contracts including, but not limited to, special use contracts, Open Gym and birthday parties.
- Prepare, implement, and evaluate specific programming areas annual budget in accordance with Park District policies and procedures. Recommend capital improvements to the Recreation General Manager on an annual basis.
- Monitor monthly budget reports and report any deviation or problems.
- Implement purchasing, inventory of supplies, and reconciliation in accordance with Park District policies and procedures.
- Responsible for collaborating with the Marketing Department on annual marketing plan for operating areas, submit brochure content, and monitor website for accuracy.
- Create, maintain, and train all subordinates on emergency response protocols for Community Recreation Center and oversee and approve time and attendance for personnel.
- Provide excellent internal and external customer service both written and verbal.
- Ensure Park District policies and procedures are being strictly adhered to by public and renters.
- Maintain a high level of knowledge of Park District facilities, their locations and services, including personnel and their responsibilities, employees telephone extensions and general Park District operational rules and ordinances.
- Assist in the operations of the Community Recreation Center in the absence of the Recreation General Manager and to perform specific duties as related to the operations and maintenance of the building.
- Actively support the agency’s risk management protocol that will effectively control and reduce accidents
- Obey the practical safety rules, regulations and procedures established by the Safety Committee, attend and participate in required safety trainings
- Promptly report all unsafe actions, practices or conditions to the immediate supervisor
- Perform other related duties as assigned, based on agency needs

Education and Experience
- Preference for Bachelor’s Degree or equal.
- Minimum 6 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Skills
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook for e-mail.
- General working knowledge of PowerPoint, Publisher and Adobe.
- Experience with RecTrac registration software, preferred.
Language Skills
- Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondence and memos in English.
- Ability to edit and/or write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals in English.
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
Mathematical Skills
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.

Required Certificates/Licenses/Registrations:
- CPR/AED within 6 month – provided by the Park District
Hours & Compensation
- The normal working hours are Monday through Friday, 10:00am-6:00pm. General hours of duty will be approved by the CRC Recreation General Manager and Superintendent of Recreation for the various seasons of the year. Availability to work remote one day per week.
