- A traffic and transportation EIT will perform and evaluate traffic operations, traffic safety, traffic and roadway design. They will work in conjunction with project managers, peer engineers and CADD team members to coordinate the traffic analysis and transportation design with other project disciplines to meet project deadlines for various projects throughout Utah and other regions as needed. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a variety of project types and sizes.
- It is expected that the traffic and transportation EIT engineer:
- Collaborate with Project Managers and peers in design and producing roadway and traffic plans, and traffic studies.
- Assist in designing roadway, highway lighting, signing, pavement marking, traffic signals, and traffic management and ITS system designs; intersection designs; performing capacity and signal warrant analyses.
- Develop technical traffic analysis for highways, streets, and multi-modal facilities utilizing multiple software and programs as necessary.
- Assist in writing technical reports and creating exhibits.
- Assist in developing maintenance of traffic (MOT) and sequencing plans throughout the construction phase of a project.
- Work with Project Managers for project reviews and deliverables.
- Implement client and internal QA/QC procedures.

- Education – A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field. A master’s degree is a plus but not required.
- Experience – 0 – 4 years of hands-on experience.
- Technical Skills - Experience using simulation software (e.g., Synchro, VISSIM), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), and/or CAD (MicroStation/AutoCAD) is beneficial. Familiarity with relevant industry standards and guidelines, such as MUTCD (Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices) and AASHTO (American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials) standards.
