Waste Water Treatment Plant Operator

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Operates, repairs, and maintains the wastewater treatment plant's facilities.

· Collect samples and performs routine laboratory tests.

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Assists in promoting the maintenance of a safe, accident free, and healthy work environment.

· Establishes and maintains cooperative relationships with those contacted during the course of work.

· Lubricates machinery; drives and unloads trucks.

· Maintains shift log and records meter readings.

· Performs other related duties as directed.

QUALIFICATIONS:

· State of Kentucky Class II Wastewater Treatment certification, while actively pursing a Class III certification.

· Knowledge of the principles and practices of wastewater treatment plant operations; operating principles of valves, pumps and motors.

· Intermediate math skills required.

· Maintain a valid Kentucky driver's license.

· Available for emergency call back 24 hours per day.

· Minimum education is a high school diploma or equivalent.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

· While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, talk or hear, and taste or smell. The employee is occasionally required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

· The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

· While performing the duties of this job, the employee frequently works in outside weather conditions. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts and is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals, extreme cold, extreme heat, and risk of electrical shock.

· The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $13.00 - $18.00 per hour
