What are the responsibilities and job description for the Legal Administrative Assistant-HR position at Windstream?
The Windstream Legal Administrative Assistant supports in-house counsel and leave of absence teams in the human resources department and facilitates the efficient operation of the department by performing a variety of clerical and administrative tasks. This is a remote position.
What You’ll Do:
- Assist with responding to requests from employees, leaders, administrative agencies, outside counsel, and others concerning labor and employment law matters at the Company.
- Support leave of absence office team by assisting with employee leave claims management, time entry, auditing, and other duties for back-up support as needed.
- Respond to subpoenas for personnel and other HR records, including gathering documents, drafting correspondence, and handling inquiries and follow-up with outside counsel.
- Work with Benefits and Compensation Counsel on Qualified Domestic Relations Orders and benefit appeals, and other related duties as assigned.
- Maintain electronic filing systems, litigation holds issued by in-house counsel and other documents such as NDAs, separation agreements, releases, and investigation files.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Do You Have:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, SharePoint) and related software.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Basic understanding of clerical procedures and systems such as recordkeeping and filing.
- Ability to work independently without constant oversight.
- Able to effectively handle sensitive and confidential information
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in-person and virtually
- Able to work well under pressure and deadline driven
Even Better:
- In-depth working knowledge of relevant computer programs including MS Office
- Some knowledge of legal research databases, such as LexisNexis
- Experience with document management systems
- Knowledge of law practices, legal records and procedures
- Knowledge of applicable document development processes
Minimum Requirements:
High School diploma or equivalent and 5 years experience with 3 years directly related to the job. College hours or a college degree may be substituted for some experience as deemed appropriate.
