PRIMARY FUNCTION: Implement and facilitate the credit union’s budgeting, forecasting, and profitability systems and processes. Provide direction and technical support to company leaders in the formulation of the budget and forecast. Collect, compile, verify, review, and analyze financial information and economic indicators. Contribute to regulatory reporting.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Maintain and enhance the design, development, documentation, analysis, creation, testing, and modification of financial planning models and reports based on user and regulatory specifications.
Update, balance, and troubleshoot reconciling issues with financial planning systems.
Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the data warehouse structure to effectively troubleshoot financial planning systems reconciling issues to ensure data integrity.
Work with credit union staff to correct data discrepancies.
Analyze, interpret, and communicate actual to estimated revenue and expenditure variances to business leaders.
Provide recommendations to business leaders to improve financial outlook and forecasting.
Produce, validate, analyze, and publish monthly, quarterly, and annual budget, forecast, and profitability results.
Perform ad hoc financial modeling, analysis, and reporting to provide insight into strategic initiatives and economic changes and possibilities.
Proficient with a variety of software programs such as: Axiom, MS Excel, SQL Server Reporting Services, SQL Server Management Studio, Crystal Reports, and Monarch.
Build collaborative relationships with credit union leaders and the finance, accounting, and treasury teams.
Apply creativity in generating solutions to problems and recommend process improvements that increase operational efficiency and accuracy.
Plan and participate in planning discussions to advise business leaders on adjustments needed to their budget or forecast.
Identify financial and industry trends to aid in budgeting, forecasting, and profitability.
Contribute to the production of quarterly regulatory reporting.
Lead periodic profitability meetings with business leaders.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or related field required.
Four or more years’ experience in finance with one of those years in the area of financial planning and analysis
Strong knowledge/skills in financial analysis.
High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
Demonstrated analytical problem-solving skills.
Strong relational database skills.
Experience with Visual Basic for Excel and Structured Query Language (SQL).
Ability to work with all levels of employees.
Organization and prioritization skills.
Ability to work alone or with little supervision.
Willingness to pursue further education in meeting business needs within finance.
Advanced communicative skills in technical concepts.
Advanced computer skills and adapts easily to new technology.
