What are the responsibilities and job description for the Linux Administrator position at Wintegrity?
As a Linux Administrator, you will apply technical expertise to build, test, and maintain virtualized and physical servers that meet business requirements and platform standards. The position requires experience working in a heterogeneous environment containing UNIX, Linux and Windows systems.
What You'll Do:
- Provision, install, configure, operate, and maintain systems including the following operating systems RHEL, CentOS, HP-UX, AIX, with emphasis on Linux.
- Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis, and upgrade administrative tools and utilities. Configure / add new services as necessary.
- Administer and maintain policies and procedures to ensure the security and integrity of all servers.
- Server and workstation HW/SW system installations, configuration, upgrades, patches, and maintenance.
- Maintenance of configuration documentation and system procedures.
- Ability to solve problems quickly, as well as, work the issue resolution to completion.
- Must be available to support a flexible work schedule.
- Participate in a scheduled on call rotation with other team members.
- Proficient in performing shell scripting using one of the following (Perl, Bash, C Shell, Korn) to automate tasks and processes.
- Provide leadership, technical support, user support, technical orientation, and technical education activities to project teams and less senior staff.
- Manage change requests between development, staging, and production environments.
- Linux systems experience including capacity planning, advanced diagnostics and troubleshooting, and performance management.
- Strong hardware/software troubleshooting and network diagnostic skills are essential.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What You'll Need:
- Experience with Hadoop.
- Experience with SAN storage (EMC).
- Experience with SAN switches (Brocade).
- Experience with virtualization (VMware).
- Experience with Hadoop environments (Apache/Cloudera).
- Knowledge of Enterprise backup solutions (CommVault Simpana).
- HP ProLiant server hardware configuration including c7000 Blade Enclosures.
- Cisco UCS server hardware configuration.
- Experience working in firewalled/load balanced environments.
- Bachelor’s Degree (B. S.) from four-year College or University. Meaningful and relative experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year for year basis.
5 years of Systems Administration experience supporting production environments.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Salary: $50.00 - $55.00 per hour
