Job Summary: The Set Up Technician is primarily responsible for removing and installing injection molds, and for setting machine process parameters per specifications. They also perform a variety of ancillary machine and equipment setups required for job runs. They are also responsible for ensuring that parts are produced to process requirements during the production run by making equipment adjustments where needed. If you are mechanically inclined this is the job for you.
Job Duties
· Set up molds to process requirements
· Set up molding machines to run to established standards
· Ensure product requirements are met by adjusting molding parameters during a production run
· Awareness of and diligence in meeting product safety requirements
· Set up ancillary job equipment such as robots, thermolators, riveters, printers and stampers, welders, etc.
· Record process changes and variations, as required
· Assess mold performance and recommend mold repairs as needed
· Other duties as assigned by Supervisor
Qualifications
I. Education and certifications
· Required: High School diploma or equivalent
· Required: Lift truck and overhead crane certification (company provided)
· Optional: RJG Master Molder or equivalent
II. Work experience
· Required: 2 years mechanical, electrical, or hydraulic set up or repair experience
· Preferred: Injection molding experience
· Preferred: Lift truck and overhead crane operating experience
III. Job skills
· Mechanical aptitude and experience with tool usage performing setups and/or repairs
· Must supply some personal tools to perform job (personal toolbox required)
· Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and process logs
· Working knowledge of injection molding process parameters (training provided)
· Basic PC skills to facilitate communications and data entry (training provided)
· Use a variety of measuring and testing devices (training provided)
· Neat, organized, with an eye for detail
· Able to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-demand environment
· Ability to stand, bend, crawl, and climb for up to 12 hr. (work breaks provided per established procedures)
· Attuned to work environment and job hazards
· Availability: work shift overtime, weekends, and occasional holidays
