Focused on delivering unsurpassed services in support of law enforcement and homeland security, FSA Federal, a rapidly growing joint venture owned by trusted solutions providers SAIC and Amentum, has a vacancy for a Supervisory Paralegal. In this role, you will be supporting the overall mission of the United States Attorney's Office (USAO).
Responsibilities
- Provides Legal Clerk and Paralegal / Legal Assistant II, III, & IV review for the attorney.
- Directs and supervises paralegal(s) and other staff supporting major paralegal support efforts, such as large legal research projects or major in-courtroom support. Sets goals and priorities in accordance with task order requirements.
- Works closely with Government officials, trial attorneys and staff, client agency staff, and opposing counsel.
- Responsible for coordinating access to appropriate Department of Justice libraries and other legal research facilities.
- Ensures the work meets contract and attorney requirements by monitoring work and reporting on progress. Additionally, troubleshoots and performs quality control spot checks.
- Formulates administrative and technical procedures (to include quality control spot checks) to troubleshoot workflow issues and to improve quality and timeliness.
- Creates and establishes processes for tracking and managing case files, exhibits, and other case-specific materials.
- Coordinates expert witnesses with trial staff.
- Coordinates with all support components to make sure the work is completed.
- Performs complex legal research.
- Keeps the customer and senior management updated on operational status and plans. Provides all required reports on or ahead of schedule.
- Manages personnel in accordance with contract and company requirements, to include:
- Monitors employee productivity and provides constructive feedback and coaching.
- Manages Vacation and other leave requests.
- Reviews and approves timesheets, travel authorizations, and expense reports.
- Administers employee evaluations.
- Acts with appropriate speed to resolve employee concerns.
- Works with senior management and Human Capital Management (HCM) to appropriately address conduct and performance issues.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Target salary range: $84,909 - $109,502. The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position based on experience and other factors.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Paralegal Studies; or an undergraduate degree in another field with a Paralegal Certificate; or a Paralegal Certificate with at least two-years' paralegal experience; or High School Diploma/GED with at least four-years' of paralegal experience
- One-year of automated litigation support experience with knowledge of the capabilities and use of automated resources and technology for the development, presentation, and prosecution of federal cases
- One-year experience in asset forfeiture or a field related to law enforcement or related field (includes legal and military experience)
- Direct asset forfeiture preferred
- Trial experience preferred
- Ability to demonstrate supervisory experience (project management experience considered)
- Excellent working knowledge of legal system, legal research procedures and tools, as well as sources of information
- Excellent communication skills; oral and written, to include legal writing skills
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills; strong analytic aptitude
- Experience with the Microsoft Office suite of applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word), and other common software applications, to include databases
- Leads by example, maintains a professional disposition under extreme pressure
- Ability to multitask and consistently deliver the highest quality of work and customer service
This position requires U.S. Citizenship and a 7 (or 10) year minimum background investigation.
