Performs basic laboratory tasks, assists chemists, sets up routine lab parameters, and maintains logs. Complies with QA/QC policies and procedures.
II. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.
Receives waste samples, Waste Analysis Report, and time card from Assistant Technician.
Understands and certified to perform the quality criteria required by the Lab Tech I and Tech II positions to include:
a. GC Orientation e. Solvent Analysis
b. PCB Prep f. PCB Analysis
c. Solvent Prep g. ICP Analysis
d. Metals Prep h. Varian AA
Completes record keeping on sampling procedures according to standards.
Cleans equipment and maintains housekeeping standards in work area.
Performs testing and analysis requiring technical knowledge and expertise in handling hazardous waste.
Makes independent decisions within standard practices as well as creative judgments in modifying or adapting existing methods, techniques, and procedures. Directs unusual problems or discrepancies to supervisor.
Utilizes working knowledge of lab protocol, chemical terminology, and waste codes.
Required to read, use basic mathematics, and complete records and logs. Position requires a high level of concentration and close mental and visual attention

This job has no supervisory duties.

A. Education and Experience
Education: High School Diploma or GED (accredited).
Experience: Twelve months of relevant work experience as a lab technician and completed certification for Tech and 11 level parameters (in addition to education requirement).
