What are the responsibilities and job description for the FUSION Youth Program Counselor position at WMNI CORPS 61491?
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Help with the day-to-day activities of the Fusion Program. These include but are not limited to recreation activities, helping tutor & supervise the homework room, encouraging teens to come to youth group events.
- Be aware of and follow all safety precautions and procedures.
- Help with the maintenance of all areas used by the program.
- Assist with the preparation and distribution of daily snack.
- Assist the director in whatever manner needed.
- Must be on time.
- Ready to perform to the best of their abilities in all areas of the program.
- Use the outreach opportunity to its fullest potential.
- Aware of the mission statement of The Salvation Army and make every effort to be a positive representative of The Salvation Army, both on and off site.
- Ability and willingness to promote and comply with the Mission Statement of The Salvation Army.
- Be professional at all times.
- This individual will keep the Family and Youth Ministries Coordinator informed on all critical issues relating to their area of responsibility.
- Requests for time off need to be submitted in writing two weeks in advance.
Qualifications:
All employees must uphold and respect The Salvation Army’s mission and must pass the Salvation Army background checks, and MVR qualifications.
Education/Experience:
High school diploma, some college, and some experience working with children preferred.
Computer Skills:
Basic knowledge of operating computer needed and also required to use PC or technology for programs.
- Reasoning Ability: Ability to collaborate on complex social issues within kids, families and communities. Ability to solve complex problems, make appropriate judgments and decisions. Good communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
- Certificates and Licenses: Keeps records in compliance with standards in order to assure for program evaluation/certification requirements.
- Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. - Work Environment: This position is required to do light to moderate physical work. In order to successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the employee is regularly required to interact with children in recreational activities (low to high volume environment). Work environment for this position includes an office environment, including a gym, with a low to high noise level.
