Job Level: Entry-Level – Non-Supervisory – Non-Exempt

Schedule: Full Time or Part Time. Hours may vary depending on business needs. Must have open availability, including evenings, weekends and holidays.

Summary/Objective

This position plays a major role in a guest's dining and/or bar experience. Consistency is a key element in a positive experience, which is achieved by always following procedures and recipes. A bartender must be friendly, outgoing and possess good communication skills. A bartender should be organized and able to think and act quickly and effectively while retaining self-composure.

Essential Functions

• Must be able to pass the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB) Responsible Alcohol Management Program (RAMP) Server Training.

• Welcome each guest personally within 1 minute.

• Communicate with guests using clear and enthusiastic words, tone and body language at all times. Make guests feel appreciated through bartender's actions.

• Work as a team with all Wolf Brewing Co. personnel to maintain an effective atmosphere and an efficient food and beverage service.

• Work with others to keep all areas cleaned and stocked to Wolf Brewing Co. standards at all times.

• Mix, garnish and serve alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks for patrons of bar, dining area and patio following standard recipes.

• Ring drink orders into computer immediately, collect money from guests for drinks and food served, and make change.

• Arrange bottles and glasses to maintain an attractive display in agreement with Wolf Brewing Co. standards.

• Wash and sterilize glassware.

• Be attentive. Offer assistance before the guest has to ask for it.

• Place current bar tabs in front of guests at all times.

• Monitor and ensure that no guest is overserved.

• Anticipate your guest's needs. Be alert of guest signals (raising a hand, making eye contact, etc.), and acknowledge the guest to let them know the bartender will be right with them.

• Serve alcohol responsibly. Do not hesitate to ask for Management intervention if necessary.

Work Environment

This job operates behind the bar and may be working in close proximity to co-workers. The noise level in the work environment can be loud at times. Hazards may include, but are not limited to, cuts, slipping and tripping.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

• Well-paced mobility required during the entire shift.

• Ability to reach, bend, lift, carry, stand, stoop and wipe for long periods of time – up to 8 hours.

• Remain stationary for long periods of time.

• Frequently wash hands.

• Be able to lift up to 45 lbs.

• Be able to manipulate fingers, hands and arms to cut, measure, pour, serve, carry and wipe.

• Be able to hear and talk. Must be able to speak clearly and listen attentively to guests and other team members.

• Strong reading, writing and verbal communication skills required.

• Good close and distance vision and ability to adjust focus between the two.

Travel

Regular travel is not expected for this position. Management may request attendance at special events (example: beer festivals) to promote Wolf Brewing Co.

Required Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED.

• Prior experience working in a restaurant or brewpub.

• Advanced knowledge of beer, wine and spirits, and familiarity with standard drink recipes.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

• Must be 21 or older.

• Must be able to pass the ServSafe Food Handler Training.

• Must be able to pass the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board (PLCB) Responsible Alcohol Management Program (RAMP) Server Training.
