What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Accountant position at Wolf & Company PC?
Wolf is seeking a Senior Accountant to join our growing and well-established national firm. The Senior Accountant is responsible for fixed asset recordkeeping, firm recoverable expense entries, corporate credit card accounting, and prepares journal entries and reconciliations for the month-end general ledger close. Additionally, the Senior Accountant monitors accounts payable and accounts receivable workflows and assists team members to ensure that service delivery performance targets are met.
This position reports to the Accounting Manager.
Responsibilities:
- Reviews accounts payable reports, semi-monthly payment cycles, and reconciliations
- Compiles client billable data and processes journal entries for client recoverable expenses
- Performs daily cash and accounts receivable reconciliations, assists in research of client cash receipts application and records non-client cash received
- Reviews semi-monthly staff expenses for proper accounting, reasonableness of expenditure, and processes related corrections and journal entries
- Processes monthly corporate credit cards entries, ensures that cardholders provide receipts and adequate explanation for each charge; assists cardholders with general ledger coding for all charges
- Maintains schedule of prepaid expenses including software license subscriptions renewal schedule; ensure completeness and accuracy of amortization of prepaid expenses
- Reviews use tax and 1099 reports for completeness and accuracy
- Maintains fixed asset database and associated depreciation schedules; prepares annual depreciation M-1 and annual property tax returns
- Prepares monthly journal entries and month-end reconciliations, as assigned
- Provides guidance to Accounts Payable Specialist in respect to routine transactions and acts as back-up to Accounts Payable Specialist
- Acts as back-up for the team in respect to remote deposit capture scanning, website payments, and accounts receivable cash application
- Proactively seeks ways to continuously improve processes and practices that will result in greater efficiencies and better controls
- Assists with related special projects as required
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or equivalent from an accredited university.
- 5 years of accounting experience in a high-volume, fast paced environment.
- Willingness to adjust schedule during peak periods.
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and accuracy.
- Ability to work remotely and independently on assigned duties.
- Completes work efficiently, with a sense of urgency.
- Demonstrated ability to manage a variety of priorities while meeting deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with advanced Excel capabilities.
- Strict and complete adherence to confidentiality in respect to personal and proprietary information

- Experience working in a professional services firm
- Experience with Star Practice Management
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV
- Experience with BNA Fixed Assets

The salary range for this position is $80,000 - $95,000
Actual compensation within the range will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience, qualifications and location, and applicable employment laws. In addition to base pay, you may be eligible to participate in our performance-based incentive compensation or sales commission plans.
