Grotnes is a northern Indiana (Michiana) company creating custom machinery. They are located in Niles, Michigan. We are assisting them in their search for a Supply Chain Analyst.
This multi-faceted position will involve a combination of important roles in supply chain procurement for Grotnes. This position primarily involves executing the purchasing function, including expediting materials and components for OEM equipment and systems. The position also functions in shipping/receiving. The incumbent must be able to execute the purchasing function for multiple, simultaneous projects and ensure quality requirements are met. This position reports to the Controller.

The incumbent must be able to execute the purchasing function for multiple, simultaneous projects and ensure quality requirements are met. This position reports to the Controller.
Responsibilities:
- Send Request for Quotes (RFQ’s) with required specifications to vendors/suppliers.
- Analyze bids received and negotiate price, delivery, and terms.
- Prepare and issue purchase orders via the ERP system.
- Follow up, expedite orders, and ensure receipt of material in time to meet project/job timelines.
- Act as a liaison between external suppliers, and Grotnes engineers and project managers.
- Communicate proactively any delays in deliveries.
- Visit suppliers, both existing and new, to monitor capabilities and quality processes.
- Identify and evaluate potential new suppliers to reduce overall supply chain risk.
- Maintain records of supplier performance based on quality and delivery.
- Serve as key backup to shipping and receiving function, dependent upon factory workload.
- Maintain and purchase inventory for frequently used shop supplies.
- Maintain confidential information.
- Other duties as assigned.
Background/Qualifications:
- Ability to work and multi-task in a schedule-driven, fast-paced, team-oriented environment where timing is critical.
- Manage project estimated material costs through the purchasing function. Avoid cost increases.
- Ability to read mechanical drawings/blueprints is a plus. Knowledge of machining processes is a plus.
- Ability to communicate technical information with engineers.
- Ability to learn and administer Grotnes ISO quality system as management representative.
- Proficient knowledge of MS Office projects is requested.
- Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
- Willingness and ability to travel.
