WolfHaus K9 is a small, veteran-owned dog training business currently expanding our team of trainers in Virginia. Our clients vary from young puppies to adult dogs in need of basic obedience to behavior modification. Dog training is a demanding, skill-oriented profession that requires the ability to effectively communicate with people as much as dogs. This Dog Trainer position is a remote, independent contractor role. Candidates must reside in a house or townhouse and be willing and able to take 1-2 training dogs into his/her home at a time. Candidates must also maintain a valid driver's license and safe, reliable transportation capable of transporting dogs to/from the client’s home.
While this position generally works independently, our mission is to foster a team of dog trainers focused on community engagement and continued professional growth through regular training events and group meetings.
Required Knowledge/Expectations:
- Experience with and ability to articulate the concepts and theories behind training methods*
- Knowledge of the care and handling of dogs and identification of appropriate and inappropriate dog behaviors
- Ability to handle dogs of all sizes and temperaments
Trainer Duties/Responsibilities:
- Maintain a safe, clean, climate-controlled environment for all dogs in your care
- Monitor and assess the dog’s behavior and health while in your care
- Effectively complete the board & train programs at your home
- Professionally manage client communications through regular check ins (verbal/written/photo) during the training program as well as in person follow up lessons
- Safely pick up/drop off client dogs in your local service area
This position is commission based and will vary depending on the individual training program and your availability. Average full-time monthly commissions range from $3,000-$7,000.
