Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP, an AmLaw100 firm with more than 1,100 lawyers based in 27 US and UK office locations, seeks a talented and experienced Business Development Strategist. The Business Development Strategist will be responsible for conceiving and implementing elements of the firm’s marketing and business development programs specific to aligned practice areas, including Commercial Litigation, White Collar & Investigations, Antitrust, Environmental & Natural Resources, Labor & Employment, and others as may be assigned. The Business Development Strategist will also support the Technology Sector along with a portfolio of Strategic Client Teams aligned by sector and/or practice areas. The candidate will be a member of our BD leadership team, working under the direct supervision of the Director of Business Development & Strategic Pursuits and in day-to-day collaboration with the Chief Marketing Officer, Chief Strategy Officer and key partners. The ideal candidate will be highly organized, strategic, self-motivated, curious, and detail-oriented. This position requires excellent organization and interpersonal communication skills and an ability to strategically manage multiple projects, internal clients and priorities.
Responsibilities include:
Lead and support the implementation of business development initiatives of designated Practice Group/Client teams (includes research analysis, list development/maintenance, event execution and follow-up, community involvement, pitch meeting preparation, and more).
Execute the firm’s strategic initiatives and brand deployment through creative and innovative marketing programs.
Manage a portfolio of Strategic Client Teams. Align and work with cross functional attorney teams for business development. Contribute to the development and implementation of a strategic business development plan for each.
Lead teams through the strategic planning process for strategic client teams as well as designated practice groups.
Support and advise practice group leaders in Business Development budget allocation and funding decisions.
Manage firm sponsorships at industry/trade conferences and local market events, including providing on-site support and building relationships with clients and prospects.
Develop targeted lists (for Client Alert mailings and/or business development pursuits).
Keep apprised of market and competitive trends for relevant areas of focus.
Work with Recruiting department and practice leaders to integrate new attorneys and develop integration plans.
Identify opportunities for content marketing/thought leadership.
Promote cross-selling, service integration and service expansion.
Provide business development coaching for individual lawyers and teams.
Liaise with various centralized marketing teams including, Design, Communications, Proposals, Digital Marketing, Market Research, and Collateral teams to meet needs of assigned lawyers/teams.
Develop and coordinate client presentation materials and client-focused tools and resources, in collaboration with the firm’s Communications and Design Teams.
Coordinate with the Proposals team to ensure client proposals contain relevant, up-to-date content. In some cases, this might mean leading pursuit and proposal related efforts.
Coordinate with the Events team to develop and execute proprietary events for designated Sector/Service teams and offices.
Work with Communications team to promote key practice teams and attorney expertise through various earned media and PR initiatives.
Maintain and log key activities (proposals, events, business development activities) in CRM system. Assist with the creation and maintenance of experience database.
Assist on firm-wide or special projects, as needed.

Education/Training/Minimum Required Experience:
Bachelor's Degree in marketing, communications, or other related field; MBA is a plus.
8 years of directly relevant experience in a marketing or business development-related position, including experience in a large law firm or professional services firm.
