With 100 locations and over 400 OB / GYNs and specialists across the country, Women’s Care provides comprehensive patient care in obstetrics, gynecology, gynecologic oncology, urogynecology, gynecologic pathology, breast surgery, genetic counseling, maternal fetal medicine, laboratory services, and fertility.
The Medical Assistant provides professional clinical care for patients following established standards and practices. Prepares patients during office visits and assists patients and family members before, during and after a doctor’s visit.
- Prepare patients for examination and assist providers during treatment / procedures, examinations, and testing of patients.
- Prepare, restock, and sterilize examination rooms, procedure rooms, lab area and all other patient care areas per established policies and procedures.
- Record patients' medical history, health maintenance, and chief complaint.
- Measure, record, and document vital signs.
- Where applicable, perform phlebotomy, injections and other specimen collection per established policies and procedures as directed by the provider.
- Educate patients by providing information and instructions as directed by the provider.
- Maintain safe, secure, and healthy work environment by following and enforcing standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
- Sterilize medical instruments per established standards and procedures.
- Relay messages from patients and front office staff to providers.
- Represent the office in a professional manner. Treat all customers, internal and external, in a courteous and cooperative manner.
- Participate in team activities and professional development activities.
- Attend required meetings.
- Demonstrate and embody the Women’s Care mission and core values.
- Compliance with all HIPAA rules, regulations, and guidelines.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Qualifications :
- High school diploma or GED.
- Certified Medical Assistant preferred OR the ability to obtain the certification within the first 90 days of employment.
To be eligible to obtain an MA certification, you must be a graduate of a nationally accredited Medical Assistant program OR served in the Armed Forces as a Medical Technician with honorable discharge OR obtain a letter of attestation from a currently licensed physician stating that you’ve worked as a Medical Assistant for at least one year within the last three years.
- Current CPR and / or BLS certification preferred OR the ability to obtain the certification within 30 days of employment via Women’s Care training.
- Experience working in OBGYN or Primary Care a plus.
- Working knowledge of medical terminology.
- Ability to perform phlebotomy and administer injections, if applicable.
- Ability to perform dosage calculations and measurement conversions.
- Must possess the ability to interact and communicate professionally and effectively with all levels of internal personnel, providers, personnel of outside organizations, and patients and their family members, both written and verbally.
- Must possess good organizational skills, handle multiple tasks concurrently, and be able to work effectively with all levels of aforementioned groups.
- Ability to use a computer and enter data in electronic medical records application, preferably eCW.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Must be dependable, reliable, and punctual.
